A Cross-Sectional Study of Nurses in an Inpatient Hospital Setting

Abstract

Nurse productivity is an important indicator of healthcare service quality, patient satisfaction, and hospital operational efficiency. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between leadership style, work motivation, and nurse productivity at Jaury Jusuf Putera Academic Hospital. A quantitative observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted in June 2026 involving 60 nurses selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring leadership style, work motivation, and nurse productivity. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that 58.3% of respondents perceived leadership as good, 68.3% had good work motivation, and 73.3% were categorized as productive. Leadership style was significantly associated with nurse productivity (p=0.002), as was work motivation (p=0.002). These findings indicate that supportive leadership and good work motivation are important factors associated with nurse productivity. Hospital management should strengthen leadership development and employee motivation programs to support nursing productivity and service quality.
